Device notes that age well
“My laptop” becomes useless six months later when you own two. Durable device notes use nicknames that outlive marketing model numbers, plus a short cue about environment — home desk, hotel Wi‑Fi, office docking station.
Nickname first, specs second
In class we recommend a stable nickname (“Cedar laptop”) and optional year. Skip copying full serials into the diary; those belong in an asset inventory if you keep one, not beside access narratives.
Network notes without passwords
“Cafe guest Wi‑Fi” or “phone hotspot” is enough. Never store network passwords in the same book as wallet session history. Separation is the whole point of a Private Wallet Access Diary.
When hardware retires
Add a one-line retirement entry: nickname, last known use, and whether the device was wiped. Future-you will thank present-you when reconstructing which machine touched which session.
